I am excited to share with everyone the wonderful experience Gabby (Board Member and Family Support Group Facilitator) and I had on our recent trip to Akron, OH. The purpose of our trip was to attend Dr. Nicole Labor, Addiction Assassin, presentation and recording of Addiction 101 on Monday, February 16th at The JADFA House.
The first stop on our road trip to Akron was to visit the cemetery where Dr. Bob (Co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous) was buried, and then to tour the home where he lived. I just happened to have a Stages Anniversary Token from last year’s fundraiser in my pocket, so I set it on top of Dr. Bob’s headstone. Then we were off to tour Dr. Bob’s house. Our tour guide was informative, personal and entertaining! Learned a great deal about Dr. Bob, his family, and how Alcoholics Anonymous was started.
Next on our list was Dr. Nicole Labor’s presentation on Addiction 101 at The JADFA House. I was familiar with Dr. Labor’s 2018 symposium “Mental Health & Addiction: Breaking the Stigma” YouTube video from Walsh University and had shared it with many struggling to understand the disease. I was thrilled to get tickets to attend and to be a part of this informative, and impactful learning experience, and to meet Dr. Labor in person! She has made such a difference in my life both personally and professionally!
Here's a video (shout-out) about Stages that Dr. Labor posted on social media. https://www.facebook.com/reel/
